How to Make the Most of Your Photography Booking – Timelines, Access & Expectations
Helpful advice from GB Photography Perth
Booking professional real estate photography is one of the best ways to boost your property’s visibility – but getting the most out of your session requires more than just showing up with a camera. Over the years, we’ve seen that smooth, efficient shoots happen when a few key things are in place: the right timeline, easy access, and clear expectations. Whether you’re an agent, property manager, or seller, here’s how to make sure everything goes to plan on shoot day.
1. Book with purpose – and a bit of padding
We get it – turnaround time matters. But trying to squeeze a shoot into a last-minute window can lead to rushed prep or missed details. Whenever possible:
- book at least 2–3 days ahead – this gives you time to prepare the property properly and secure ideal timing;
- avoid same-day styling and photography – furniture movers, stylists, and photographers all need space to do their best work;
- have a launch timeline in mind – let us know your expected go-live date so we can prioritise editing accordingly;
2. Access is everything
We can’t shoot what we can’t access. Make sure the property is fully accessible at the scheduled time:
- keys or lock-box codes should be tested and working;
- if tenanted, confirm access permissions well in advance;
- let us know if pets will be present, or if anyone will be home;
*It’s also helpful if someone is on-site (or available by phone) in case we need clarification or to double-check presentation before we begin.
3. Prep in advance, not during the shoot…
A common issue is owners or tenants tidying up while we’re shooting. Not only does this slow things down – it can result in inconsistent or missed shots. Ideally, the home should be 100% ready when we arrive.
- lights on, blinds open;
- no dishes in sinks, bins or cords visible;
- beds made, clutter removed;
- outdoor spaces swept and styled;
*If you’re unsure what’s expected, we’re happy to provide a prep check-list ahead of time.
4. Set clear expectations – so we can deliver
Let us know in advance if there are particular features you want highlighted (a fireplace, a view, a wine cellar). It helps us plan our shots more effectively. We can also adjust the shot list depending on how the home is styled, the weather, or lighting conditions on the day.
5. Trust the process
We know how to bring out the best in a property – even under tight timeliness or in challenging conditions. Trust that we’re working to make your listing look as good as it possibly can, while also delivering on schedule.
*If anything unexpected arises, we’ll communicate clearly and work with you to find a solution.
At GB Photography Perth, we aim for smooth, simple and stunning!
From booking to delivery, our goal is to make the process seamless. When access, prep, and communication are handled well, we can focus on what we do best – capturing your listing in its best light.
